Patricia Briggs’s Silence Fallen (book ten in the Mercy Thompson series) claimed the top spot on the hardcover list, followed by New York 2140 by Kim Stanley Robinson. The new runner-up was Sins of Empire by Brian McClellan (Orbit US), the first book in a new fantasy series, set in the same world as McClellan’s Powder Mage trilogy. There were 51 nominated titles, down from 56 last month.

With a commanding lead, new release Magic for Nothing by Seanan Mc­Guire (book six in the InCryptid series) nabbed first place on the paperback list over second place finisher Ben Aaronovitch’s The Hanging Tree (book six in the Rivers of London series). There were no new runners-up. There were 67 nominated titles, up from 57 last month.

Edging out second-place finisher Revenger by Alastair Reynolds, first place on the trade paperback list went to A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab, the first book in her Shades of Magic trilogy. The new runner-up was Kings of the Wyld by Nicholas Eames (Orbit US). We had 71 nominated titles, up from 65 last month.

Chuck Wendig’s Star Wars: Aftermath: Empire’s End (the third book in the Star Wars: The Aftermath trilogy) returned to the top spot on the media-related & gaming-related book list, with Forgotten Realms: Hero by R.A. Salvatore (book three in the Legend of Drizzt: Homecoming trilogy) a respect­able second. There were no new runners-up; 26 titles were nominated, up from 22 last month.
